Meet Our Doctor

When asked why he loves being a dentist, Dr. Sorge stated, “Being a part of people’s lives is amazing. In dentistry, we not only provide essential healthcare, but we also develop friendships and become a part of the lives and communities of our patients.”

Dr. James Sorge grew up in a small town in northern Utah, where playing night games, milking cows, hauling hay, and competing in sports like basketball, soccer, football, and baseball were part of everyday life. It was a wonderful time in his life, and it was during those formative years that his interest in dentistry first began as a simple idea shared in conversation with his brothers. Over time, that idea grew into a lifelong passion for helping people through quality dental care.

Dr. Sorge served a two-year mission in Japan before graduating from Brigham Young University. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree with honors from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon, in 1998. Shortly thereafter, he moved with his family to Fallbrook in North San Diego County. For 23 years, he practiced in the “Avocado Capital of the World” before relocating to Orange County to practice in San Clemente.

In addition to providing general and family dental care, Dr. Sorge has continued to advance his training in cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, orthodontics, TMJ disorders, and dental sleep medicine. He has lectured for various medical and dental organizations and has participated in humanitarian projects from Oregon and California to the islands of the South Pacific.

Dr. Sorge is honored to have received the San Diego Reader’s People’s Choice “Best of the Best” award and San Diego “Top Dentist” recognition for 14 consecutive years. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association®, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Sorge and his wife, Katherine, have four children and four grandchildren. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, trying new foods, golfing, hiking, and snorkeling. In quieter moments, Dr. Sorge can often be found enjoying a good book or working on a puzzle.
